5.0 out of 5 stars A true gem!, July 28, 2002

The only downside to this book is that it isn't longer! But the small size doesn't mean it doesn't offer powerful statements, powerful thoughts, and hard topics. This book covers topics and then offers a short affirmation. Topics include reclaiming your body, reclaiming your right to be alive, reaching out and accepting help, seperating what was done to you as a child from the child you were, and honoring survival. This is a true gem, a rare find, and a must have for all survivors.
Embracing the Journey: Affirmations for Living Life as a Sexual Abuse Survivor
Nancy W's affirmations in ON THE PATH were hailed by Laura Davis as "gentle, kind and empowering," and by E. Sue Blume as "full of validation and insight." Now, the fifty-two uplifting refelctions in EMBRACING THE JOURNEY help female and male readers move through second-stage recovery's major issues: sex, relationships, personal talents, work, self-esteem and dreams.
5.0 out of 5 stars a real Gem, November 21, 2009

This book is a wonderful support to anyone who has experienced sexual abuse. Written in an easy to read style covering all sorts of different feelings, self doubts, insecurities or difficult days that all survivors can relate to. You can look up the relevant issue and read a segment making sense of that feeling and then it finishes off with an appropriate affirmation to help combat it.
It helps one to make sense of confusing thoughts or feelings and brings you back to your self. What I especially like about it is that its not just affirmations it actually explains why you may feel a certain way as a result of abuse and makes sense of how you're feeling. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. I work in this area and often recommend it to clients also.
